So I have learned something last night…I *heart* escargot!
Birthday night at Absinthe in the Hayes Valley neighborhood of San Francisco was amazing! The food was delish, and the service great! Atmosphere moody, lot’s of low light, candle-lit, cozy little booth made for two!
I took bart into the city to meet Will, as he was working late doing a video shoot. I thought I was running late, my atm card wasn’t working to purchase my bart ticket earlier, and was feeling a little frazzled! I didn’t even get to paint my nails, but managed to paint my toes!
We actually ended up running into each other walking (quickly) up Stockton street, as he was headed to the ATM machine for some cash so we could grab a cab to the restaurant. So it was actually good timing! Everything else just fell into place. Grabbed a quick cab for a little over $6 (Will gave the cabby a $10 tip, we could tell he wasn’t having the best day. He was pleasantly surprised.), and managed to get to the restaurant early! Whahoo! We actually started to head into a private dining area not knowing it wasn’t the main restaurant entrance.
Elegantly dressed lady near entrance with a bright, broad smile: “Hi! Are you here for the so-so & so party?” (I don’t remember what she said)
Me: “No, actually we have reservations.”
Elegantly dressed lady: “Oh, this is actually for a private party, the main entrance is around the corner.”
*Smile*
Me: “Oh! Thank you!”
And off to our dining adventure we go!
{First thing’s first! Cocktails!}
{Citron Lemonade! So good! Thanks for switchin drinks with me Honey!
}
{Oyster Shooters with Bloody Mary shots!}
First the oyster…
…than the shot!
{The buttery goodness…the escargot! I kept dipping my bread in the sauce! Trust me, it was pure…heaven!}
The first bites! Can you tell that we were anticipating yuckiness?
Ha, ha! Boy were we wrong!
On to our main entrees…
{Liberty Farms Duck Confit.}
This dish was the most succulent dish I have ever had! I would take this over a steak any day!
{Slow-Cooked Pork Confit}
The meat just fell apart! Every morsel was soooo tender!
Last, but certainly not least…
DESSERT!
{Chocolate Bread Pudding with Ice Cream & Nutella!}
Happy & belly content…
it was time to head back home.
It was a great night, and a
perfect birthday evening!
