Last week was a solemn one to say the least. After my husband’s grandmother passed away, I was informed just 4 days later that my grandfather had passed as well.
Though I was not close to either grandparents (though my husband was quite close with his grandmother), it still brought a sense of sadness over me, and surprisingly a bit of relief as well that they were both in better places, and with their loved ones. His grandmother with her husband who passed a few years ago, and my grandfather with my grandmother whom also passed away about 3 years ago.
So to say we currently needed a bit of joy in our lives, is an understatement.
One of my old friend’s from high school got hitched this weekend, and the hubby & I decided to take advantage of this special occasion to get a little “gussied up” and to have a little fun together.
My husband was the prom king at his high school, and we always talk about how funny it would have been if we were high school sweethearts and we got to go to prom together.
In reality this would never of happened of course, as I’m 5 years older. But it’s something that I always thought would have been so much fun. So he got me a corsage made of peonies (because I wasn’t able to have them at our wedding), and we turned the night into our prom night. It was so sweet and we had a ball!
{Me: dress-Twinkle by Wenlan (my wedding rehearsal dinner dress!), shoes-BCBG, clutch-Lauren Merkin from Gilt, earrings & ring-Anthro, bracelet-Lulu Frost. Hubby: suit-Couture, Italy, shirt-Calvin Klein, bow-tie-Cable Car Clothing, S.F., shoes-Kenneth Cole, sunglasses-vintage Blublockers}
Here are a few shots from the wedding.
The beautiful bride & I
My partner of the night, Kelly, Vy & I.
It began to rain (why the stylish umbrella I’m carrying) just before the ceremony started, and the wedding had to be moved indoors. In the end it all worked out, and everyone was able to enjoy the stunning view during the reception from the top of the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco.
We even got to see the legendary Tony Bennett as we were leaving.
I was kinda in awe.
It was an amazing night, and the hubby and I had an awesome time.
I love weddings.
Congratulations to my friend Vy and her new partner in life, Leonard.
We wish you both the best!

Elena, you look absolutely gorgeous, beautiful photos as well. I’m very sorry for your losses.

Oh thank you Christina. It was definitely a day we needed. We had a really good time. The Fairmont is a gorgeous hotel.
