Fall Ready: {A Neutral Palette}

{dress-BCBG MaxAzria, boots-vintage Frye, necklace-Gorjana, scarf-Owl N’ Wood, bracelets-Rachel Leigh, Noir, Anthro}

Took photos lazy style today. Originally just wanted a quick shot to post via Instagram, per my usual, but decided I loved this outfit so much I should turn it into a post! ;)

Received this BGBG dress from The Outnet almost a month ago, and to be quite honest it was a definite impulse purchase, but an absolute “love at first sight” buy. And I am so glad I got it when I did, because that same night I decided to check to see if my size was still available, and it had already sold out (small is still available)!

Total sign we were meant to be.

I have been loving all things neutral this Fall, which isn’t like me? I have always been a girl for bold color, not to say I’ve strayed too far from that. I still like to add it here and there. And accessories…..they’re still a girl’s best friend.

Whether bracelets, necklaces, or a scarf, I love them all.

This scarf has instantly become a favorite in my wardrobe.

So happy to have these bad boys back in action. Recently picked them up from the shoe repair guy, (whom btw, I’m pretty sure just makes up his prices, but whatever, my boots were fixed to satisfaction) and wore them back in today.

Looking forward to a full and hopefully enjoyable weekend this week! Love having two days off in a row, which isn’t a regular for me.

Sweet dreams lovebugs!

Ease: {Happily Grey}

Came across Mary from Happily Grey today after being introduced to her blog from two co-workers (thanks J-Miz & Miss Briwa!) because they spotted her sportin these lovely pants from Anthropologie.

And I have to say after exploring it a bit, I am totally envious of her ability to pull off such effortless ease in her styling. I also recognized one of her photos that has been all over Pinterest recently.

And I hate to admit it, but she makes these pants look damn good! And that Claire Vivier clutch? Don’t even get me started. I’ve been wanting that thing for almost a year now, and this post is making me inch that much closer to pullin the trigger on getting it!

Do I also have to admit it’s because she’s super slim, and blonde GOMI?

Probably, but I know I’ll never be super slim, nor blonde. And I don’t really care if that is the reason.

I have the earlier version of these pants (Ha! Outfit post inspo!), and they’re one of the most comfiest pairs of pants that I’ve ever owned.  These latest versions I honestly wasn’t quite as drawn to, but now I have to say I may just get me a pair! ;)

Emerson Fry Fall 2012

You all remember Emerson Made, right?

Well apparently I may be the only one in the universe that didn’t know she has changed from Emerson “Made” to Emerson “Fry”.

In any case, I am utterly impressed by her new site and collection! I want just about every one of her new Fall pieces. I was so taken by her photos, they captured her style and essence perfectly. I have already started pinning some of them to my wishlist board.

The whole collection is absolutely marvelous darling!

Labor Day

{jean jacket-J Brand, tee-Splendid, skirt-Mauve, shoes-Schuler & Sons, necklace-Gorjana, bracelets-Noir, U.O., Free People, handbag-vintage Coach, sunnies-Anthropologie (they are extremely dark btw)}

Lately I have been wearin the patriotic red, white, and blue combo on a regular. Not sure why really? But it is undeniably one of my favorite color combinations, and what better day (than Independence Day) than Labor Day to sport this combo. ;)

Took these quick shots across the street from where Will and I were cat sitting my co-worker’s cat, Scrambles. For a minute there I couldn’t remember if she was a girl or a boy, but was quickly reminded she was a…she.

Later, we went and ran a few errands, ya know the typical domestic duties, then headed to our friend’s for dinner. It was an overall pretty nice day and the weather was perfect.

My friend Denise and I even ran to the nearest grocery store to pick up a few wine coolers, I was having a moment of reminiscing of the days when I was 15 and thought I was so cool for drinking a Bartles & James fuzzy navel.

Will had no idea what that was. I was in complete shock. Totally showed my age.

This time, went for the margarita flavor instead.

Tomorrow is my last day off of  a 3-day holiday for me, then it’s back to the craziness that is Wonderland. I was lucky enough to get a last minute appointment with my hairdresser for tomorrow, this manginess of a mane needs a good chop.

Hope you all had a fabulous holiday weekend, and I’ll see you again soon…

Ha! Who am I kidding? Get it while it’s here folks. ;)

Oak Street Style Launch Party

{tank-Left of Center, jeans-Current & Elliott, leather jacket-from Paris, booties-Dolce Vita, necklaces-Gorjana & Pamela Love, handbag-vintage Coach}

So I finally was able to squeeze in a little time to work on a few blog posts (and take pictures!) these last few days that I’ve had off. Unbelievable.

As I mentioned on my Facebook, I attended the launch party of a new Bay Area blog called Oak Street Style at a new boutique called Owl N Wood here in Oakland.

They had iPad’s set up throughout the store so people could explore the blog, while there was a live dj spinnin some tunage.

I headed straight for the wine. ;)

We didn’t stay too long, but for the amount of time we were there, the vibe and the energy was so much fun. Lot’s of folks showed up to come and support, which was such a great thing to witness. I’ve never been to a party for the launch of a blog before, but it really made me feel like I needed to step up my game a bit. Haha…! ;)

No, but for real, it was a lot of fun, and it was a great opportunity to be able to check out the new boutique and mingle a bit. I even purchased a cute scarf that you may have seen on my Instagram.

I love being able to support creative local talent, and events like this just make me so proud to be from the Bay Area.

Congratulations to Chun-Mui, the creator and director of Oak Street Style for such a successful night. I wish you and everyone at Oak Street Style the best!

And maybe I’ll be lucky enough to be featured on it one day. ;)

What I’m Lovin NOW: {A Certain Kind of Color Palette}

I know this color palette may seem more Spring than Fall, which honestly it pretty much is, but for whatever reason it’s creepin up everywhere I look, and I have been drawn to it more and more lately.

Constant, is the use of some sort of pink in combination with a neutral shade, and a pop of another complimenting color.

Completely and utterly loving.

Two in One: {Sequins & Chevron Stripes}

{top-J.Crew, boyfriend jeans-Citizens of Humanity, booties-Tashkent by Cheyenne, clutch-vintage from the AFM, bracelets-Noir & (i.d.) U.O., necklace-J.Crew, nails-M.A.C’s Hyperion}

Stop the presses, I’ve got a new post! Ha, ha! :)

I wore this outfit out to the hubby’s birthday dinner on Friday night. We decided to check out a local spot called A Cote. We’ve passed it a dozen times, and finally decided to give it a whirl. It was absolutely delicious and pretty good ambiance too.

This J.Crew top was love at first sight. I’ve always been one to love a little sparkle, but the combination of the understated coloring and chevron stripes is what sealed the deal for me. I thought it not being lined would bother me, but as the night wore on I didn’t even notice it. My only gripe is that it’s a bit hard to take off. As you probably know sequins are very delicate, and it doesn’t take much for them to pop off. So in order to not let the sequins rub against each other, it requires a little assistance. ;)

I have literally been living in boyfriend jeans these days. I’ve purchased 2 more pairs since May, and they are my absolute “go-to’s” on the days that I don’t really want to think about what I’m going to wear.

They’re a no-brainer for me.

Originally Will and I were suppose to “getaway” for his birthday for the weekend, but unfortunately he wasn’t able to take Friday off, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying every bit of our weekend, and taking full advantage. It included a day trip up to the Napa Valley in St. Helena indulging in a day spa, yummy homestyle cooked food, a stroll down Main Street, a celebratory get together with friends for drinks, and as I type, concluding with an A’s baseball game.

To see a few tidbits from our weekend, click here.

Happy Birthday Honey! I hope you enjoyed your birthday weekend as much as I did. ;)

Brooklyn, NYC

{tank-Minden Chan, vest & pants-Sanctuary, sandals-Ted Baker, handbag-vintage Coach, necklace-Pamela Love}

Ahhh…..Brooklyn, what a nice place. Less car craziness, charming neighborhoods, like Carroll Gardens, which was our destination of choice, and yummy places to eat and adorable places to shop.

We completely fell for the quaintness and charm of Carroll Gardens, and chose this area in particular because of a suggestion from a friend to try Prime Meats, which is an incredible spot for beer, and well, meat! We had lunch here, and the interior is so amazing, with it’s vintage appeal and dapper decor. You can tell they took a lot of time in restoring the space to it’s luster. Afterwards we headed over to Farmacy, for some fountain treats and some friendly chatter with some of the guys that worked there. I had a root beer float, the hubby had a sundae.

They were Ah-mazing.

It’s an interesting feeling you get when you return from being on a trip, and experiencing a whole different type of lifestyle and surroundings. In some respects you’re happy to be home, but you also return with a new perspective. You’re kind of reminded there’s a whole other world out there, and heck, some of it you completely loved, and well others you could live without.

I left our “vacation” feeling a bit of relief, but also a little saddened, because I couldn’t continue my life with one of the most important persons’ in my life.

My best friend.

I reminisced about how we grew up with each other and the things we said we would do together. How we would always live near each other, get married at the same time, have kids at the same time and raise them together, grow old together

Well obviously our lives took us on different paths, and all through my life she has always moved, and always just a little bit farther, until she was living in a completely different country, but we have always managed to somehow stay the best of friends. (The term BFF’s would be an understatement honestly.) Though I realize her path took her where she is today for a reason, and some could argue it was for the best, I still miss her. I miss just being able to pick up the phone and call her, or at a moment’s notice stop by and just hang out.

Don’t get me wrong, I have wonderful friends close by that I adore dearly, but my best friend can never be replaced, there’s just a different level of trust, and comfort that comes along with someone who has known you your whole life!

I’ve definitely been reflecting a lot these last few days since being back. Embracing and appreciating some aspects, while questioning and coming to certain realizations of other aspects of my life.

After eating and shopping, we later walked across the Brooklyn Bridge back over to the madness that is New York City!

My dogs were barkin big time.

Not gonna lie, this guy totally startled me as he approached.

But after the high-five, we were totally cool.

Here’s to truly being in the moment, and enjoying as much as life has to offer.

Chelsea, NYC

{dipped dyed denim top-U.O., boyfriend jeans-Citizens of Humanity, cheetah oxfords-Dolce Vita via F.P.}

Yes I know it’s been about a month since my last post, and again I apologize. So, I’m back from a 2 week vaca with the hubby and definitely feeling a bit more inspired and ready to get back to blogging again, but with a different outlook on it for sure.

We visited New York, Paris, and Brussels, and in a way it was kind of our “make-up honeymoon” shall we say. ;) It was a jammed packed 2 weeks of exploring, crazy driving, and plenty of food indulging. By the time we made it to Brussels, we had a moment to kind of take everything all in and spend some quality time with my best friend Julie, and her amazing little boy Matteo. And as you may know, if you have been following my blog for awhile, I consider them more like family, than friends.

It was definitely hard to leave them, but was so glad we got to spend the time that we did. We are already planning our next trip to visit them again!

Most of these photos were taken in Chelsea, N.Y. at High Line Park. It’s an old railroad that was transformed into a beautiful walking path filled with quirky art and a little lush greenery. A few were taken around the Chelsea Market area.

You may have seen me debating on whether to purchase this top on my Instagram. Well obviously it was a yay. ;) If you haven’t checked it out yet, click here and you can follow snapshots of my life that I don’t share on the blog. Or if you have Instagram you can follow me at justagirl05! :)

New York was definitely one of the highlights of our trip, and since it was Will’s first time, it made it even that more exciting. Btw, during our stay I had found out through Instagram that Rumi of Fashiontoast was in New York at the same time, and it seemed I had kept missing her by just a few hours every where we went! I kept hoping I’d run into her, but it never happened. Oh well. If by any chance Rumi you come across this post, know that you were one of my inspirations to start my blog, so thank you!

I’ll be sharing some more photos from Brooklyn, which we both had never been to, but completely fell in love with. It was more our vibe, a little more laid back, and not so hustle & bustle.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend, it’s back to work for me tomorrow so I’m off to get my Z’s…

p.s. I still plan on freshening up this space, but it’s just gonna take me a little longer than anticipated. ;)
