Wardrobe Essentials: Back to Basics

Ok, so I finally pulled together a list of wardrobe essentials. It took awhile to think about it and edit my list, but I think it’s pretty thorough with all the “key items” you would need to help pull all your looks together with some of your favorite trends.  ;)

So here ya go!…

Here are a few of my faves if you need some of these essentials now!

1. T by Alexander Wang Classic Muscle Tee
2. Allsaints Walker Leather Jacket
3. J.Crew Blanca Denim Jacket
4. Zara Buttoned Blazer
5. J Brand 29″ Skinny jean
6. Mih “The Oversize Shirt”
7. J.Crew Crinkle chiffon A-line skirt
8. Sam Edelman Petty Suede Booties
9. J.Crew Fisherman cable-knit sweater

I will continue to add more wardrobe essentials as I come across them, and feel they’re worth sharing.

Have a great weekend everyone. Mine will be a mix bag this time around. Some fun, and not so fun things to accomplish!

I have a new friend…

and her name is Rocco.

{top-Gap, skirt-Free People, booties-Report, necklace-J.Crew, handbag-Alexander Wang, watch-Nixon, bracelets- H&M, Noir, and U.O. tiger watch}

I am back in the land of the living! Sorry for the lack of posts love bugs, but I had the most stubborn cough in the world last week, and just a few days ago I started to feel much better. The cough is finally gone, and I can resume life as uuz. ;)

So do you notice something new on my arm?!! Yes that would be my highly coveted Alexander Wang “Rocco” bag! The hubby finally gave in and got it for me. I know everyone and their mother has this handbag, but the excitement of it still has not withered away for me. I’ve wanted it the moment I saw it, and consider it an absolute classic.

I was almost convinced by the saleswoman at Nords to get it in the new shinier gold studs, but went with the original brass ones. It just seems more subdued and not so in your face. Plus it’s the original look. Classic. Keep it classic. ;)

Every time I look at Rocco, I squeal. She’s my first designer handbag ya know?

No, really she is! I feel so fortunate to have her! :)

Along with the new handbag, I scooped up this Free People skirt that I have been eying, ever since they came out with their “Vegan Leather” line. I’ve always wanted a black pleated leather skirt, and even though this isn’t leather, it still fits the bill quite nicely. And I love that it’s lined! Good job Free Peeps!

A little cropped close-up action.

Had one of my fave girls in Wonderland, Keri take this shot before I left for the day yesterday. Had to get the full ensem. ;)

My Free People coat, completes the look don’t ya think? And it’s one of my favorite jackets in my wardrobe right now.

Hope you all had a lovely Valentines Day whether it was with your significant other, family, or friends, I hope it was a day full of fun and of course love.

We stayed in, made tacos, and watched our Netflix movie Water for Elephants, while I cuddled my Rocco.

It was a perfect night.

Mellow Yellow

{top-Splendid, yellow jeans-AG, booties-Report, scarf & necklace-Anthro, watch-Nixon, bracelets-Noir, Free People & BR, sunnies-hubby’s vintage Blublockers, bunny ring-Marianne Rautureau via UO}

Had a pretty mellow Saturday today. I’ve had the worst cough for the past 4 days, so I haven’t really been in the mood to do much. We celebrated my little sister’s 24th birthday with a little Vietnamese lunch.

That would be twice in a row we had phó. Not complaining.

After we just came home and chilled. I have to tell you I could easily live in this Splendid top every day if I never had to work another day in my life. I would say it has become every girl’s staple in Wonderland. It’s just an easy top to wear. Super soft & roomy, light, high-low hemline, and not to mention it’s so easy to default to stripes.

Am I right, or am I right?

The weather was pretty nice, and we get direct sunlight facing the front of our apartment. I couldn’t help but soak up a few with a little vino in hand. ;)

Later when I returned inside, decided to entertain myself with Will’s new iphone and play around with his Instagram app (the one thing I wish my Droid had).

I was amused.

Doesn’t my apartment remind you of an old 1970′s motel somewhere in Florida?

Hey, the yellow totally goes with my yellow jeans.

Sweet.

Tomorrow will be a full day, a little Alameda Flea Market action, and a quick trip into Target to see if I can nab myself a little Jason Wu. ;)

Monday Inspo: {Directly from the pages..}

…of a catalog.

Anthro’s December ’11 catalog

Sometimes an outfit is so good, you don’t even need to think about it.

Not gonna lie, I was totally going to buy this whole outfit myself.

The blouse is still on my “definitely need to get” wishlist.

Happy Monday Lovelies!

Feelin Springy

{jacket-Cartonnier, cropped sweater-Sparrow, oxford shirt (underneath)-Gap, jeans-Citizens of Humanity, booties-Dolce Vita, necklace-J.Crew, handbag-vintage Coach, bracelets-vintage & Anthro}

Some days just don’t go as planned.

I was suppose to get my haircut today, and was on my way to my lovely hairdresser Michal’s, when I happened to check my notices on my phone, and saw a message from him.

“Sweetie? Just tried your cell . . . shut off? uh oh… where are ya?
Lemme know kay?”

Love him.

I had the hubby reply for me, as I was driving, and found out I had the time wrong. Doh! :(

I felt pretty bad, and was so looking forward to a much needed haircut!

So unfortunately there wasn’t enough time to still head to the city, so we exited off the freeway, and headed to 4th Street for some grub.

I donned my outfit from the beginning of this week, where I gave a sneak peek of my outfit on Twitter.

I have to admit, I wasn’t 100% sold on the floral jeans. I was definitely intrigued when they arrived in Wonderland, but wasn’t totally convinced until I saw this.

How can you not love Shopbop? They’re like genius’s in my eyes.

After a nice helping of french toast, we just strolled around 4th Street, and picked up a few things for the house. Ya know the essentials, hangers, iphone stand, and a ram’s head.

Yes you read me correctly, a ram’s head. We bought it to go with our deer head, that I had picked up a few days earlier from Z Gallerie. We’re not quite sure how we’ll be incorporating them in our decor, but we just really, really like them. :)

I received so many compliments on this necklace the first time I wore it. Some people even thought it was a vintage piece?!

And at a sale price, with an additional 40% off, I think this was a definite good impulse buy! ;)

Happy Saturday lovebugs! I’m gonna go figure out what to do with my heads. :)

Red, white & blue

{jacket-Cartonnier, oxford shirt (underneath)-Gap, sweater-Far Way From Close, jeans-AG Stevies, shoes-Lucky Penny (last seen here), handbag-Fossil gift from the hubby}

This is just a quickie outfit post before I hit the hay.

Will and I met up with an old buddy, co-worker of mine who was in town from New York tonight. Just a quick dinner at Izzy’s in the Marina then headed back home (so I pretty much missed the Globes, but saw a little on repeat, will have to check out the red carpet arrivals tomorrow on my break).

We caught up, had a few laughs, drank a few beers, amongst other things, which I will not mention because they are highly inappropriate, but pretty hilarious at the same time.

The hubby took this quick shot just before we headed to the car. Sorry no detail shots, it was freezing, and I could not stand still for nothin.

Had an overall good weekend I must say, and just enough to start my work week off on the right foot I hope. ;)

Nighty night lovebugs.

Brown on brown on brown

{top-MiH Jeans from Net-A-Porter, blazer-Lil from Anthro (old), pants-J Brand, shoes-Schuler & Son’s from Anthro, clutch-Miss Albright from Anthro, sweater (in hand)-Moth from Anthro, bracelets-Noir & Free People}

…and yes the title of this post is in reference to me as well. Ha! ;)

I had all kinds of shades of brown in my outfit yesterday, but I didn’t care, obvs.

Had a good Saturday which included dinner at our favorite sushi spot in our new neighborhood of Lake Merritt, icy cold Sapporo beers and football!

Congratulations Niners! It was about damn time!

Earlier in the day we met with our Realtor and handed over the keys to our loft and had a last good-bye with our first home together. If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve seen the progression through pictures. It’s been a stressful and bittersweet process, but we know it’s the right decision for us.

Later on in the evening we met up with two of my girlfriends for a little dirty martini get-together, and just had a good ‘ol girls night-in filled with hilarious stories, meatballs & cupcakes, and a few tears.

And yes the hubby was just “one of the girls” last night too. ;)

We had my trusty new Elph on hand and discovered the “Toy Camera Effect” setting about a month ago and decided to give it a whirl.

We love it, and will definitely be experimenting more with this setting.

Not to mention how much more convenient it is to carry around.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Rabens Saloner A/W 2011

I seriously want to dress like this every day right about now.

Just discovered Rabens Saloner, a pretty awesome European woman’s clothing line over at Studded Hearts, where she apparently discovered it at Rackk and Ruin (which by the way is a pretty awesome blog too).

Love discovering new designers. It’s the best.

Though unfortunately it looks like the only U.S. store that carry’s their line is in Malibu.

Frown face.

I wish I could join the rest of you in singing the praises of “TGIF”, but I really don’t have the weekend off.

Though I’m keeping my fingers crossed I’ll be able to finally breathe a sigh of relief next week. ;)
